Police: Mattituck man nabbed for DWI

A Mattituck man was caught driving drunk with no tail lights early Thursday, police said.

According to Southold Town police, Paul Matthews III, 64, was arrested at 1:32 a.m. on Route 25 in Mattituck after he was seen heading east with no tail lights.

Police said further investigation revealed that Matthews was intoxicated. He was charged with DWI, a misdemeanor,  as well as driving without the tail lights, arrested and taken to the Southold Town police department, where he was processed, and lodged until his arraignment in the morning.
