Advisory: Bicyclist critically injured in hit-and-run crash

Press release issued by the Suffolk County Police, October 7.

Suffolk County Police Vehicular Crime Unit detectives are investigating a hit-and-run crash that critically injured a bicyclist in Holbrook last evening.

Bradley J. Samuel, 43, was riding his bicycle eastbound on Veterans Memorial Highway, west of Coates Avenue, when he was struck by a vehicle also traveling eastbound at 8:55 pm. The driver fled the scene.

The vehicle is believed to be a large commercial truck with oversized mirrors, with damage to the passenger side view mirror.

Samuel, of East Patchogue, was transported via Holbrook Ambulance to Stony Brook University Hospital where he is being treated for head injuries and is in critical condition.
