Two injured in Greenport accident Monday; driver hit four parked cars

Two drivers were injured in an accident that involved four parked cars in Greenport Monday, police said.

According to Southold Town police, Jane Philips, 64, of Esperance, New York, was pulling out from St. Peter’s Lutheran Church on Route 25 in Greenport at 9:24 a.m. when she failed to yield the right of way to Edgar Pocasangre, 18, of Greenport; the vehicles collided.

After the accident, Philips’ vehicle spun out of control, hitting four more cars that were parked in the area, police said. Both Philips and Pocasangre were transported by Greenport rescue to Eastern Long Island Hospital, police said.

Pocasangre was issued a traffic ticket for allegedly driving without a license, police said.
