A Southold woman was cuffed in Cutchogue Saturday night after she drove drunk and almost caused several head-on collisions, police said.
According to Southold Town police, Ruth Mushcamp, 67, was arrested at 8:38 p.m. on Silver Colt Road and charged with driving while intoxicated, a felony.
Police said they received a call about a possible intoxicated driver; the caller said that the driver was heading eastbound, crossing over into westbound traffic, and had almost caused a head-on collision several times.
A police officer located the vehicle; Mushcamp failed several roadside sobriety tests and was arrested. She was transported to police headquarters, processed and held pending arraignment, authorities said. Mushcamp’s vehicle was seized due to a prior conviction for DWI, police said.
