Ammirati’s of Love Lane was voted “best overall chili on the North Fork” by judges in this year’s Chili Night contest sponsored by the North Fork Environmental Council.

Ammirati’s was one of just three local eateries to compete in the Chili Night contest this year, held at Martha Clara Vineyards Friday evening. Jamesport Manor Inn and Lobster Roll Northside also participated.

The contest was judged by Riverhead Councilwoman Jodi Giglio, Southold Trustee David Bergen, Southold trustee candidate Abigail Field, Calverton Civic Association president Rex Farr and former NFEC board member Kevin Cahill.

About 75 people attended the event, at which the NFEC honored L.I. Farm Bureau executive director Joe Gergela with the 2014 Paul Stoutenburgh Leadership Award. See separate story.

Krupski Pumpkin Farm, The Market, The Rotisserie and Satur Farms contributed to the event, hosted by Martha Clara Vineyards. Music was provided by Tony Nish. Mattituck NJROTC cadets assisted with set up, service and cleanup.
