Cops: Town Supervisor Scott Russell involved in rollover crash

Southold Town Supervisor Scott Russell was involved in a single-car rollover Monday night in Cutchogue, police said.

According to Southold Town police,  Russell, 50, of Cutchogue, was operating a 2014 Ford Escape southbound on Skunk Lane near Haywaters Drive on Monday at 9:35 p.m. when he reported sliding on wet leaves in the roadway, causing his vehicle to slide off the road, and strike shrubbery before rolling over. The vehicle came to a rest on the driver’s side, police said; Russell was able to extricate himself from the vehicle prior to the arrival of emergency personnel.

The supervisor was treated at the scene by Cutchogue Fire Department rescue personnel, police said.
