Child and adolescent psychiatrist to speak on drug use, depression at Mattituck High Wednesday

Parents and educators, community members and prevention advocates will gather at Mattituck High School Wednesday for a presentation to help understand the very real issues that could be crippling local kids.
Dr. Gabrielle Carlson, renowned child and adolescent psychiatrist from Stony Brook University, will be speaking on child and adolescent depression, anxiety, school refusal and marijuana use today at 6:30 p.m. in the Mattituck High School Auditorium.
All are welcome. Topics explored will include what’s considered adequate treatment for ADHD; how to recognize the warning signs of school refusal; and whether approval for medical marijuana means the drug is safe for kids.
A question and answer portion will be included in the presentation.
