Piles of presents and treats greeted scores of kids who turned out to see Santa and Mrs. Claus at Greenport’s annual Christmas Parade on Sunday.
The parade, organized by the Greenport Fire Department, kicked off at Greenport schools and wended its way along Front Street, before heading back to the firehouse, where long lines of parents and kids waited for a turn to see Santa and Mrs. Claus; each child received a present and a bag with fruit and candy.
The tradition is a longtime holiday favorite among generations of Greenport families, with the costumes of reindeer and other characters dating back decades.
