A Mattituck man spent Christmas Eve behind bars after he was busted for driving drunk, police said.
According to Southold Town police, Andrew, L. Faircloth, 25, was arrested on Wednesday at 2:49 p.m. at the intersection of Factory Avenue and Route 25 in Mattituck after he as seen failing to maintain his lane and crossing over the double yellow lines into oncoming traffic on Factory Avenue.
Faircloth was stopped and, while being interviewed, had an odor of an alcoholic beverage on his breath, as well as bloodshot, glassy eyes and slurred speech, police said.
He was administered standardized field sobriety tests and found to be intoxicated, police said. Faircloth was charged with driving while intoxicated, a misdemeanor, and taken to police headquarters, where he was processed and held to await arraignment, police said.
