Cops: Man busted for driving drunk without a license

A Greenport man was cuffed early Sunday for driving drunk without a license, police said.

According to Southold Town police, Ryan Beckley, 35, was arrested at 2:13 a.m. on First Street in Greenport and charged with driving while intoxicated, a misdemeanor, as well as unlicensed operation in the third degree, failure to maintain his lane, and other traffic violations.

An officer saw Beckley come into his lane of travel, police said; Beckley then made a lefthand turn signal when turning right onto Broad Street, police added. Beckley was stopped and showed signs of intoxication, police said; he was issued field sobriety checks ,which he failed. A DMV check also showed Beckley to have a suspended license, police said.

Beckley was transported to police headquarter and held for arraignment, police said.
