A Jamesport man was charged with driving while intoxicated in Mattituck Sunday evening.
According to Southold Town Police, Christopher J. Eckie, 44, was arrested at 5 p.m. on Route 25 and charged with DWI, a misdemeanor.
Police said Eckie was observed driving a Red Chevy and heading westbound on Route when he crossed over the solid white line into the shoulder of the roadway several times. He was stopped, failed several roadside sobriety tests at the scene, and was found to be intoxicated, police said.
Eckie was taken back to police headquarters, processed, and held for arraignment.
