The Shelter Island Public Library presents Friday night dialogues with Roz Dimon – “Digital Art: The Inside Scoop”. The presentation will take place on Friday, Jan. 30 at 7 pm and the exhibition will run from Jan 3 through 31. The library gallery’s hours are Monday, Wednesday and Saturday 9:30 a.m. through 5 p.m. and Tuesday, Thursday and Friday 9:30 a.m. through 7 p.m.

About the Artist:
Roz has been a pioneer in the digital field long before most of us had ever heard of the World Wide Web. Originally from Atlanta, she graduated with a BFA in drawing and painting from the Lamar Dodd School of Art, University of Georgia. She moved to New York City in 1981.
Soon after, Roz found a way of translating the sophisticated language of a traditional paintbrush into digital media. Her body of work includes digital paintings, portraits and most recently – digital drawings. Roz invented a multi-layered, interactive painting technique called a DIMONscape. One of these, Pale Male a Pilgrimage — which is one of the thirteen pieces on display at the library — is in the permanent collection of the Metropolitan Museum and the 9/11 Memorial Museum.
Roz splits her time between Manhattan and Shelter Island, where she has a studio which she opens for visitors every year during the ARTSI Open Studios Tour.
As part of the Shelter Island Library’s “Friday Night Dialogues”, Roz will introduce all to her work and to the truly contemporary media with which she creates.
