Cops: Unlicensed Greenport woman found with 47 oxycodone pills

A Greenport woman was cuffed after police said she was found driving with a suspended license and drugs in her car.

According to Southold Town police, Kayle Onusaitis, 25, was arrested on Route 25 and Bray Avenue on Sunday at 11:19 p.m. after she was observed driving east on Route 25, following too closely to the car in front of her.

Upon investigation, a “strong odor of burnt marijuana could be smelled on the operator and within the vehicle,” police said. A search of the vehicle uncovered 47 oxycodone pills which were not prescribed to Onusaitis at the time of the stop, police said.

She was also found to have a suspended license for failure to pay a fine out of Southold Town justice court, police said. Onusaitis was arrested and charged with criminal possession of a controlled substance, a misdemeanor, and aggravated unlicensed; she was later released on $ 100 bail for a March court date, police said.

Editor’s note: A criminal charge is an accusation. By law, a person charged with a crime is presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
