Cops: Southold man caught with drugs in car

A Southold man was busted after he was stopped and found to have drugs in his vehicle, police said.

According to Southold Town Police, Victor E. Perez, 22, was arrested at 3:16 a.m. on Front Street in Greenport after he was stopped for a traffic infraction. Police said during the interview, the officer “smelled a heavy odor of marijuana.” Officers seized two marijuana bongs, a scale, a small amount of marijuana and several prescription pills that Perez had without a prescription, police said.

Perez was arrested and charged with criminal possession of a controlled substance, a misdemeanor, as well as unlawful possession of marijuana, a violation, police said. He was taken to police headquarters, processed, and held for arraignment, police said.
