Noah’s, a sponsor of the Tall Ships 2015 festival, is launching a search for the quintessential official Tall Ships cocktail.
The pre-Tall ships competition is aimed at showcasing the talents of local Greenport bartenders, who are invited to enter a new, original cocktail into the contest and who will then personally mix their original concoctions at Noah’s bar.
The Greenport Tall Ships Cocktail Challenge will take place on June 17 at 6 p.m. at Noah’s Restaurant, located at 136 Front Street. A panel of judges will vote; the winner will become the official cocktail of the Tall Ships event, which takes place from July 4 through 7 in Greenport. The cocktail will be served at Greenport eateries and bars throughout the Tall Ships festival.
Three restaurants and bartenders have already signed on, including Noah’s owner and bartender Noah Schwartz, Brix & Rye, featuring bartender Evan Bucholz, and First and South, spotlighting owner/bartender Sarah Phillips.
The public is invited to attend; complimentary cocktail tastings and bar food will be served.
Volunteers needed
In other news, the Greenport Tall Ships steering committee is seeking volunteers, ages 16 or over, to be a part of the festivities.
Volunteers are needed for a wide array of functions. Each will receive two complimentary tour tickets, a Tall Ships Challenge T-shirt, and an official ID badge, as well as free snacks, beverages, and sunscreen. To volunteer, email Greenportwebmaster@gmail.com or call 631-477-0248 ext. 218.
