North Fork Promotion Council’s new 2015 Guide packed with info, rich history

The official start of the season always means the release of the North Fork Promotion Council’s new guide.

This year’s colorful and information-packed 2015 “Go North Fork: The Guide” was released recently at a kickoff event held at the Laurel tourism booth. The guide is free and available at the town’s tourism booths.

Southold Town Supervisor Scott Russell and Southold’s special projects coordinator Phillip Beltz were onhand to cut the ribbon for the season and welcome residents and visitors alike to the North Fork as it comes alive for summer.

The guide, said NFPC president Joan Bischoff, is the harbinger of the season, filled with comprehensive information on where to go and what to do.

The 2015 guide, said the NFPC’s Abigail Field, is especially rich with detail, giving readers information on the North Fork’s vibrant history, farmlands, open space, a window into the area’s past, as well as a look into its farm to table culture and thriving agricultural community.

The guide features sections on accommodations — including  info on B & Bs — beaches and trails, breweries and wineries, dining, essential services, farm stands, history and museums, water activities, real estate, shopping and transportation. Also included are maps and information on this year’s 375th anniversary celebration in Southold Town.

“We are a community of farmers, craftsmen and artists, united in our love for this land, its beauty, and our traditional way of life,” the guide states.

The guide is available at NFPC tourism centers in Laurel and Greenport on Route 25; additional information is available at NorthFork.org or GoNorthFork.org.

“The North Fork is a great place to visit year round; easily accessible, endlessly interesting and rejuvenating,” the guide welcomes.
