Teresa Pogorzelska, who has been with Peconic Landing since the beginning, said she finds her position in housekeeping, which she’s had for 13 years, “very rewarding.” She said she also enjoys training new employees. “I like my job. I like working with people. I like helping people,” she said. “The company, it is fair. The benefits are good and I’m happy.”

It’s glowing reviews such as Pogorzelska’s that garnered Peconic Landing an honor recently: Peconic Landing was recently named one of the top six companies to work for in New York State by the New York State Society for Human Resource Management.

Peconic Landing received the accolade during the eighth annual “2015 Best Companies to Work for in New York” awards ceremony, held last month and honoring 65 companies in a number of categories; with 220 employees, Peconic Landing falls in the “small/medium” slot.

Created in 2007, the annual program evaluates and ranks the best places of employment based on employee satisfaction and engagement, workplace benefits, practices and policies.

Peconic Landing took place in the society’s two-pronged evaluation approach, which included feedback directly from employees via an online engagement and satisfaction survey as well as submission of a questionnaire about the company’s benefit offerings and policies.

“Peconic Landing truly values its team members as they are the greatest asset we have in achieving our mission,” said Robert J. Syron, President and CEO of Peconic Landing. “We strive to make Peconic Landing an outstanding place to work and to give back to the employees who give so much of themselves to our members.”

To celebrate and thank the Peconic Landing team recently, a backyard barbecue lunch was organized, including an ice cream sundae station.

Georgia Charland, who’s been with Peconic Landing for seven years in dining services, said, “I look forward to going to work every day and seeing the residents’ smiling faces.”
