Opera in the Hamptons featuring Christina Fontanelli and Her Fabulous Friends

Continuing in the tradition of the last 25 years, opera will once again come to the Hamptons through the much-loved concert “Cristina Fontanelli and Her Fabulous Friends” taking place on Saturday, July 18 at 7 p.m. at Duck Walk Vineyard North, 4435 Main Rd., Southold. This year’s concert will commemorate the passing of the North Fork’s pioneer of the wine industry, Dr. Herodotus “Dan” Damianos. This annual concert will continue the tradition of highlighting the great arias, duets and Broadway songs of the world. Award-winning singer/PBS-TV/WLIW and CBS-TV host, Cristina Fontanelli (“vocal genius” – The NY Sun), who has become a North Fork favorite through her annual appearances there, will sing, along with her world-renowned invited guest artist friends Benjamin Sloman, tenor and Ricardo Rivera, baritone. Southold local child, Kaitlyn Heath, will sing. PBS-TV/WLIW host, Jim Masters, will emcee.

The concert will take place in the beautiful indoor Duckwalk Vineyard tasting room built by Long Island’s pioneer of the wine industry, Dr. Herodotas “Dan” Damianos who passed away in 2014. It will commemorate his lifelong love for opera and the arts. Continuing in the footsteps of his father, Alex Damianos, is dedicated to preserving this much-loved musical tradition. Duckwalk Vineyard wines are nationally known and their Blueberry Port has developed an iconic following.

This year’s concert will also highlight the retirement of the Opera of the Hamptons Artistic Director, Barbara Giancola who will be honored for her dedication in bringing opera to the Hampton venues and schools through the years as she passes this tradition on. Fontanelli Productions will be the producing company for this year’s performance and will continue to bring opera and classic music to the Hamptons.
