Bottom fish continue to be the best bet on the North Fork, with some encouraging full moon striped bass reports coming in as well.

2015_brian_nigro_badgeKen Holmes of the Brooklyn Girl had some luck with the stripers Tuesday night, boating more than 50 keepers to 28 pounds. Sea bass and porgies have been cooperating as well with porgies up to three pounds and knot heads to four pounds.

Phil Kess from the Fishy Business in Orient caught some full moon fever bass on Wednesday night. Joe Gianconi and friends easily limited out using buck tails in the Race. “Bottom fishing continues to be terrific,” said Kess.

Dennis from the Peconic Star Fleet says that sea bass and porgies are thick, with some big fish being seen among the many limits caught by their anglers. Fluke to nine pounds are also in the mix.

Captain Jon of the Captain Bob Fleet in Mattituck admits he had some tough days around the moon, dealing with the harder tides. However, everyday has seen sea bass in excess of five pounds and fishing has turned on since we have been coming off the moon.
