With soft music playing in the setting sun, friends, neighbors and visitors strolled on Love Lane in Mattituck last night, sampling wine, crepes, and other delicious fare set out by local businesses and North Fork purveyors.
Laughing and talking, young and old alike took advantage of the First Friday event, where they were invited to “stroll, taste, sip” on Love Lane and merchants stayed open until 9 p.m.
First Fridays are expected to last all summer and probably into the shoulder season, with $3 bites and $5 sips, along with free music. Love Lane was closed to traffic and Pike Street merchants also kept their doors open to welcome visitors.
Participants include the Village Cheese Shop, Roanoke Vineyards, Love Lane Kitchen, Bauer’s, Lombardi’s Love Lane Market, Altman’s Needle & Fiber Arts, Love Lane Sweet Shop, Mattituck Florist, Browders Birds, Oysterponds Shellfish, Sang Lee Farm, cHarissa, East End Mushroom, Mar-Gene Farms, and Backyard Brine Pickle Co.
