Today marked the first day of the new school year for students in the Mattituck-Cutchogue, Southold, and Oysterponds school districts, and as they arrived at the doors this morning, children were sporting new outfits and backpacks and smiling happily with friends old and new.
Greenport students will start tomorrow; Southold was slated to open last week but was delayed due to construction in the remodeled cafeteria and front offices. The New Suffolk Common School also opened last week.
Parents kissed their little ones good-bye, snapping photos to preserve the precious memories for years to come.
