Waving proudly and wiping quiet, sentimental tears from their eyes, moms and dads sent their children off to their first day of school in Greenport yesterday.
Whether they walked their little ones to school, holding tightly to tiny hands, or gathered in front of the school building to watch their boys and girls bound off the bus, parents marked the milestone moment by taking photos and videos to treasure always.
The opening of the Greenport school district means that all North Fork schools are now back in session.
