The East Marion Community Association is set to take a look at “Preserving Plum Island for Future Generations.”

The meeting, which begins at the East Marion Firehouse tomorrow at 10 a.m., with refreshments served at 9:30 a.m., features Chris Cryder, special projects coordinator for Save the Sound, who will present a virtual tour of Plum Island using new imagery taken by photographer Robert Lorenz.

Plum Island, where the nation’s Animal Disease Center, as well as endangered species and unique habitats, has been the center of controversy in recent years as its future hangs in the balance, with potential sale looming.

The East Marion Community Association hopes to educate the public about current efforts to protect and preserve the natural resource.

The event is open to the public.
