CAST celebrates 50 years of service to needy in Southold

For decades, the slogan has been the foundation upon which Community Action of Southold Town is based. And now, the organization, which helps the needy in town, celebrates its 50th anniversary this week.

CAST’s 50th anniversary festivities will be held on Thursday from 6 to 9 p.m. at the Soundview Restaurant, located at 58775 County Road 48 in Greenport.

Tickets cost $45 and include food and beverages; the event will also include raffles. For information, call 631-477-1717.

Southold Town Supervisor Scott Russell said CAST fills a critical need. “CAST is the leading anti-hunger organization in the region. The organization struggles mightily to meet was seems to be an always growing need for its services. The people of CAST work hard and take their mission seriously. That they are still going strong after 50 years is a testament to their commitment,” Russell said.
