A new day dawned in the remarkable recovery of Mattituck’s Benjamin Pileski, who was critically injured after being hit by a taxi in Montauk this past July.

The community has come together to send love and prayers for Ben, and yesterday, he headed off with his father to Hunter Holmes McGuire Veterans Hospital in Virginia, where he will continue his rehabilitation.

The past few days have been filled with joy for all those who love Ben, as he’s begun to return to his old self, laughing and even singing “In the Navy” in a video posted on the Ben’s Corner Facebook page.

And perhaps the most beautiful of all, for the scores who have prayed furiously for Ben’s recovery, was a video he posted on the page, thanking all who have supported him for their love and concern.

“The visits, the texts and the phone calls, they’ve all helped me stay strong, to work toward my final recovery. I feel as though I’m the luckiest person to have such a strong support group… I would like to thank everyone personally but with so many of you that just seems shy of impossible. Thank you everyone, and God bless,” he said.

Sometimes, there are miracles.
