First Fridays to continue through December in Mattituck

A popular community event will continue through December in Mattituck, as “First Fridays” bring the community out to enjoy all local merchants, farmers, and artisans have to offer.

Ever since the event kicked off, visitors have flocked to Love Lane in Mattituck on the first Friday of each month, sampling wine, crepes, and other delicious fare set out by local businesses and North Fork purveyors.

The event brings out young and old who  “stroll, taste, sip” on Love Lane as merchants stay open until 9 p.m.

Featured are $3  bites and $5 sips, along with free music. Love Lane is closed to traffic and Pike Street merchants also keep their doors open late to welcome visitors.

Participants include the Village Cheese Shop, Roanoke Vineyards, Love Lane Kitchen, Bauer’s, Lombardi’s Love Lane Market, Altman’s Needle & Fiber Arts, Love Lane Sweet Shop, Mattituck Florist, Browders Birds, Oysterponds Shellfish, Sang Lee Farm, cHarissa, East End Mushroom, Mar-Gene Farms, and Backyard Brine Pickle Co.

The event is scheduled to last through the fall shoulder season and run through the first Saturday in December, according to a resolution passed by the Southold Town board at a recent meeting.
