Town to spotlight affordable housing at forum

With the lack of affordable housing a critical issue in Southold Town, a forum will be held tonight at Town Hall to shed light on the issue.

The forum, “What is Affordable Housing” takes place at 6 p.m. in the Town Hall meeting room.

Town officials have said that, despite ongoing discussion about “affordable housing,” whether it is needed or not, few residents understand what it is and who it serves.

To that end, the Southold Housing Advisory Commission will host a public forum to discuss affordable housing in the Town of Southold:  its history and what it actually means and who benefits from the provision of affordable housing.

Program content will also highlight town policies and codes.  This meeting is also an opportunity for households who are in need of housing assistance to learn about the process, availability of affordable housing inventory in Southold, and to garner a list of housing resources.
