A small brush fire in Southold was quickly extinguished this afternoon, according to officials.
Southold Fire Department was on the scene shortly after the fire broke out at approximately 3 p.m. on a private road off the North Bayview Extension.
The fire began in a pile of autumn leaves; firefighters did not immediately know what ignited the blaze.
No injuries were reported and the fire was out within a few minutes, leaving only the heavy smell of smoke wafting in the air.
