Eastern Long Island Hospital welcomes new nurse manager of emergency department

There’s a new face at Eastern Long Island Hospital.

ELIH has named Peter Garofalo, RN, BSN, nurse manager of the emergency department.

In his new position, Yaphank resident Garofalo will be responsible for coordinating all aspects of nursing care within the emergency department, including staffing, patient satisfaction, and coordination of care.

Garofalo brings considerable talents to the proverbial table: With more than 30 years of patient care experience, before joining the nursing management team at ELIH, he was nurse manager for the emergency department at Brookhaven Memorial Hospital in Patchogue for seven years.

Previous experience included a stint as clinical research nurse manager at Long Island Jewish Medical Center for the CLL Research and Treatment Program and assistant head nurse of the emergency department at Franklin Hospital Medical Center.

His professional certifications  include neonatal resuscitation, advanced life support, pediatric advanced life support and trauma certification.

Garofalo holds a Bachelor of Science Degree in nursing from Adelphi University.
