(Updated: 10:50 a.m.) A Riverhead man was charged with driving while ability impaired by drugs and aggravated unlicensed operation following a single-car accident on Main Road in Mattituck Sunday night that injured a female passenger.
Southold Town Police said Joshua Odell, 22, admitted to using PCP (known colloquially as Angel Dust) and smoking marijuana before last night’s accident, which occurred at about 8:15 p.m. Sunday on Route 25 and New Suffolk Avenue.
Officers responding to the crash found Odell’s female passenger outside of the vehicle, unconscious, according to a police press release. Police said they found Odell “hovering over her.”
Southold Police Chief Martin Flatley this morning identified the passenger as Larissa Jasinski, 25, of Riverhead. She was transported to Peconic Bay Medical Center with unknown injuries, police said in the release. A report on her condition was not immediately available from the hospital.
Odell was taken to Eastern Long Island Hospital for treatment of his injuries then released to police custody, according to the report.
Police said Odell was charged with felony driving while ability impaired by drugs and felony aggravated unlicensed operation.
He was arraigned in Southold Justice Court yesterday and remanded on $5,000 bail, according to court records.
