During the holiday season, Santa has been known to arrive at North Fork gatherings of excited parents and kids by train, hay wagon, fire truck and even Batmobile.

But in Cutchogue each year, Santa flies into town on a helicopter.

Yesterday’s clear skies and calm winds made for perfect flight conditions as Jolly St. Nick put down in the field at the Cutchogue Fire Department at around 10:30 a.m., part of the hamlet’s Christmas in Cutchogue celebration.

The event kicked off with a magic show in the firehouse and after Santa greeted the children and their families who’d assembled to watch him land, he climbed aboard a Cutchogue Fire Department truck for a short ride to the library, where he posed for pictures and listened to children share their Christmas wishes.
