Matt Bellace speaks to Greenport High and Middle school students

Matt Bellace stand-up comic and author of the book A Better High will be bringing his comedic and inspiring act to Greenport High School and Middle School students on Dec. 21. Matt Bellace, Ph.D., has been a youth motivational speaker and stand-up comedian since 1995. He has a Ph.D. in clinical neuropsychology, is a member of the National Speakers Association, and a contributing author for the National Geographic Kids book series “This or That.” His “How to Get High Naturally” program encourages over a hundred thousand students a year worldwide to pursue natural highs and make healthy choices.

Greenport High School and the North Fork Alliance have partnered to bring Matt’s unique brand of humor to educate students on the very serious topic that is faced by local middle and high school students, the temptation to use and abuse alcohol and drugs. Matt message is about understanding the concept of a natural high and why it is different than a chemical high. He helps students understand how to cope with the stresses and choices faced by teens today.

The day program will be followed up by an evening parent session at 7 p.m. in Greenport High School Auditorium. The evening’s program, “Supporting Your Teen In Making Healthy Choices,” is focused around how parents can communicate with their teens effectively about responsibility, healthy coping skills, alcohol and other drug use. All North Fork parents are encouraged to attend this presentation as Dr. Bellace uses humor to convey his very powerful message; “we need to support young people in both words and actions if we want them to make healthy choices for themselves”.
