The Southold Town Board took care of business Tuesday morning, setting things up for the year ahead at its annual organization meeting. The board’s first meeting of the year had a packed agenda of 54 resolutions that tended to such items as appointments, salaries, committee assignments and meeting schedules.
James Rich III was reappointed to the planning board and Leslie Weisman was reappointed to the zoning board of appeals. Both offices carry annual salaries of $13,728, a 2 percent increase over 2015.
Weisman was reappointed chairperson of the ZBA and Donald Wilcenski was reappointed chairperson of the planning board. Both positions come with an additional salary of $3,000 per year, a boost of $1,000 over the additional salaries paid for those appointments in 2015.
Councilman James Dinizio cast the lone dissenting votes, without comment, in reappointing Weisman to the ZBA and naming her chairperson of that body.
The board reappointed assessor Kevin Webster as chairman of the board of assessment review at an additional salary of $7,000 per year, an increase of $5,000 over the additional salary he was paid for the chairmanship in 2015.

The supervisor again tapped Councilman William Ruland as his deputy supervisor, at an additional salary of $2,000 for the year.

The salary levels for 2016 represent a 2 percent increase over those paid to elected and appointed officials in 2015.

Lynne Richards was named coordinator for the Americans with Disabilities Act.
Karen McLaughlin, the town’s director of human services, was named chairperson of the committee on health issues and services for the elderly.
The board authorized the supervisor to sign retainer agreements with lawyers Lisa Clare Kombrink and Mary C. Wilson as land preservation counsel.
It also named Bank of America, Bridehampton National Bank, Captial One, Empire National Bank, and Suffolk County National Bank as official depositories of the Town of Southold.
