Cops: Greenport man ditches Oxycodone pills under parked pickup truck during foot chase by police in village

A 20-year-old Greenport man who ran from police during a traffic stop is facing felony drug charges in Southold this morning after tossing Oxycodone pills under a parked pickup truck during a foot chase, Southold Town Police said in a press release this morning.

Police said Christian Davis was a passenger in a vehicle stopped by officers on South and Fourth streets in Greenport village just after 10 o’clock last night. Directed by police to exit the vehicle, Davis got out of the rear seat and bolted, according to police.

The officers chased Davis and during the chase observed him throw something underneath a parked pickup truck, police said. Officers discovered 20 Oxycodone pills packaged for sale underneath the pickup truck, according to the police report.

Davis was charged with criminal possession of a controlled substance with intent to sell, obstruction govermental administration, and unlawful possession of marijuana, police said. He was held for morning arraignment.

The driver of the vehicle in which Davis was a passenger, Jacob Thorp, 20, of Greenport, was stopped by police for having a non-illuminated license plate and a non-functioning brake lamp, police said. Thorp, found to be in possession of marijuana, was charged with unlawful possession of marijuana and released on an appearance ticket, police said.
