Cops: Intoxicated man causing disturbance inside Greenport bar faces misdemeanor contempt charge

A Greenport man was arrested on a misdemeanor criminal contempt charge for violating conditions of an order of protection, according to Southold Town Police.

Officers responded to the a Front Street bar on the report of a patron causing a disturbance shortly before 10 p.m. last night, according ot a Southold Town press release.

Police said they found Thomas Hilton, 49, inside the Whiskey Wind, where management complained he was causing a disturbance and refusing to leave. Hilton was determined to be under the influence of alcohol, in violation of a Family Court order of protection that prohibits him from consuming alcohol at any time, according to the press release.

Hilton was arrested for violating the court order, transported to police headquarters, processed and held for morning arraignment, police said.
