Original story:
A Southold woman is frantically looking for a dog who took off from her backyard just three days after she adopted it from a New Jersey rescue organization.
“Jazzy” a 3-year-old, female Norwegian buhund doesn’t know her name or where her new home is, said Cathy Weschler of Southold. She was last seen Sunday on Pine Neck and Main Bayview in Southold.
“We’ve been looking for her night and day ever since, Wechlser said this morning, as she drove her car in search of the dog. “We’re all very upset.”
Jazzy is white and tan, with lots of fur and weighs about 30 pounds, Wechsler said. “She is very sweet but extremely shy,” she said.
The dog has had a rough life, being surrendered by her elderly owner who was hospitalized. Wechsler and her husband Chris went to New Jersey Thursday to adopt her. On Sunday, she managed to slip out of their backyard fence.
Anyone who spots Jazzy or who has information about her whereabouts is asked to call Cathy at 631-655-4470 or 631-765-6866. Any volunteers who could help search for the dog would be greatly appreciated, Wechsler said.
