A Greenport man was arrested this morning after crashing into a house and equipment on County Road 48 and leaving the scene without reporting, according to Southold Town Police.
Luis Perez, 27, told police he was eastbound on County Road 48 when he slid off the road while attempting to avoid another vehicle, according to a police press release. He slid into a house and a piece of equipment, causing damage, police said, and then left the scene of the accident. Police said located Perez a short time later operating his heavily damaged vehicle, with a flat tire, eastbound on Rt. 48, according to the report.
Police charged Perez with leaving the scene of an accident with property damage and unlicensed operation, according to the report.
