The Southold Town transfer and recycling station in Cutchogue will be closed Tuesday morning for the funeral of longtime employee Frank McBride, who was killed in a motor vehicle accident with a LIRR train last Tuesday in Cutchogue.

McBride, 34, had worked at the town transfer station for 17 years.

The transfer station will open tomorrow at 12 noon to allow staff to attend funeral services for their colleague and friend in the morning.

McBride, a much-beloved member of the transfer station crew, had a sunny disposition and always greeted everyone with a smile, friends and acquaintances said in social media posts.  His death in the accident last week sent shock waves through the community where he’d lived his whole life and served for 16 years  as a volunteer firefighter in the Cutchogue Fire Department.

“He was a great employee and a very good person. He brought a positive attitude and a willingness to help with him every day he came to work,” Southold Supervisor Scott Russell said last week.
