Five runs in the fifth inning push Mattituck past Center Moriches, 9-4

It was a back and forth game for Mattituck at Center Moriches High School this morning, but the Tuckers ultimately came out on top with a 9-4 win.

Mattituck took the lead early on with three runs in the first inning, but Center Moriches quickly answered with two more in the bottom half. By mid-game, Center Moriches had pulled out in front with a 4-3 lead.

After a couple slow innings, Mattituck tied the game up in the fifth, but that wasn’t enough for the Tuckers. A few solid hits and a walk with bases loaded boosted the score to 8-4 by the end of the inning.

The sixth inning brought in one more for Mattituck for a final score of 9-4.

The Tuckers will next play in Greenport on May 3 at 4:30 p.m.
