Second-seed Babylon upset over no. 1 Mattituck in the Class B semifinals today, 3-1.
The game was tied 1-1 through five innings. In the top of the 6th, Babylon took a 2-1 lead on an RBI triple by Shaun Kaminski. Kaminski then scored on a squeeze bunt by the next batter.
Babylon’s Sean Flynn held Mattituck to three hits over six innings. Christian Figurniak got the start for Mattituck and took the loss.
With today’s win, Babylon (17-4) moves on to the Class B championship Tuesday at 4 p.m.
Mattituck (19-3) hosts Center Moriches (11-9) Monday at 4 p.m. The Tuckers blanked Center Moriches 6-0 on Thursday. If they can beat them again, the Tuckers will advance to the Suffolk B championship Tuesday for another chance at Babylon.
