Photos: Old Town Arts & Crafts Guild teams up with Mattituck-Laurel Historical Society for Antique and Artisan Fair

The Old Town Arts and Crafts Guild partnered with the Mattituck-Laurel Historical Society to host an Antique and Artisan Fair on Saturday.

Fine art, handmade crafts, antiques, photography and more were sold during the event on the Mattituck-Laurel Historical Society grounds. Around 30 vendors were in attendance with a range of goods on display, from cobbling tools to coin purses made of recycled Ramen noodle packages.

“You’re not going to find any of this stuff in a Walmart,” said organizer and guild president Bob Khune.

“We wanted to keep the price low, both for the vendors and the attendees,” Khune said. “Some of these fairs you pay $150 for a day with no rain date, which takes a large chunk out of your day’s profits.”

The historical society was also raffling off a dollhouse made by local Howard Dillingham in the 1980s, including furniture from the 1920’s.

Admission to the even was $2, and the fee included a raffle ticket towards a chance to win a free print by Khune or artist Jo-Ann Corretti. The winner will be announced at the Christmas tree lighting in November.

The Old Town Arts and Crafts Guild is planning a similar event with the Southold Historical Society in July, as well as an arts and crafts fair at the Cutchogue-New Suffolk Historical Council in October. Visit the guild’s website for more information.
