Southold Dems host ‘Meet the Candidate’ breakfast with Calone and Throne-Holst

Democrats will choose their candidate to face first-term incumbent Rep. Lee Zeldin in November in a June 28 primary election between Dave Calone and Anna Throne-Holst.

Interested voters are invited to a  ‘Meet the Candidates’ breakfast hosted by the Southold Town Democratic Club on Saturday, June 18 at CJ’s American Grill in Mattituck. The event begins at 9 a.m.

“Dave and Anna are both well-qualified Democrats who can take back our congressional seat this November,” said Damon Rallis, co-president of the club. “This breakfast will be the final chance for many Democrats to get to know these great candidates ahead of the primary.”

Since the Southold Town Democratic Club re-formed earlier this year, with Rallis, the Democratic candidate for Southold Town supervisor last year and his former running-mate for town board, Debbie O’Kane, at the helm, the organization has worked to get the word out to local Democrats about the importance of taking back the First Congressional District seat, Rallis said.  Zeldin ousted longtime Democratic Congressman Tim Bishop in 2014. The club hosted a debate between Throne-Holst and Calone in April as well as a breakfast with Bishop as guest speaker.

The cost to attend the event is $20 and includes a full breakfast featuring assorted Goldberg bagels, scrambled eggs, French toast, home fries, sausage, bacon, assorted juices, and mimosas.
