Builder has signed letter of intent with bank, as construction moves forward on Main Road, Mattituck buildings

The new office building going up on the south side of Main Road in Mattituck opposite Pacific Street should be completed by the end of summer, builder Paul Pawlowski said in an interview yesterday.

The building immediately to its east, originally built for Husdon City Savings Bank, will be occupied by a bank, Pawlowski said. The Mattituck builder says he has a signed letter of intent with a bank, but declined to identify the institution because lease negotiations are ongoing and he agreed to a nondisclosure clause in the letter of intent.

The 3,241-square-foot building, approved for a bank use by the Southold Planning Board in 2009, is largely completed and site work is now being finished up, he said.

The 9,500-square-foot, two-story structure next to it was also approved by the town in 2009 as part of the same site plan application.

Pawlowski said he does not yet have any tenants for that building, and will complete interior construction to suit. He said the site, in the “General Business” zoning use district, is ideal for medical offices and retail uses.

“I hope to have everything done in the next two months,” Pawlowski said in an interview yesterday.

Pawlowski purchased the 1.93-acre property in December 2015.
