Candlelight vigil for Orlando mass shooting victims to be held tonight at Southold Town Green

The Southold Anti-Bias Task Force will hold a vigil tonight for the victims of the June 12 mass shooting in Orlando.

The evening will feature a “poignant” performance of Civil Twilight’s “Letters From the Sky”by the MainStage Dance Academy Lyrical Company. Elizabeth Bannon will sing John Legend’s “Imagine,” accompanied by Rob Europe on guitar.

Susan Grathwohl Dingle and Robert “Bubbie” Brown of Poetry Street will read poems they wrote in the wake of the tragedy.

Religious leaders from several institutions will also offer words of prayer and support.

The vigil begins at 6:30 p.m. at the Town Green across from the IGA in Southold, and is expected to last about an hour and a half. Everyone is invited to attend.

Greenport Village will hold a vigil this Thursday at 6 p.m. in Mitchell Park. The service will include music and prayers, Mayor George Hubbard said.
