Registration opens Friday for Southold recreation department fall programs

Maybe you’ve just started working out and need a rundown on weightlifting, or your computer upgraded to Windows 10 and now you need a quick course in how to navigate the new features.

Southold Recreation Department says it’s striving to provide “something for everyone” this fall. Registration opens Aug. 11 for a wide variety of fall programs for both children and adults.

Registration is available online and offline. To register online, residents must have a “household user account” on the recreation department’s online portal. This household account be acquired on the portal by clicking “new user” or offline through a form.

A catalog of available programs is available online — no registration required. Programs fill up quickly, with a limited number of spots and hundreds of applicants each year.

The department just began offering online registration this spring after “constant requests” from residents.

“We’ve had a line out the door at 8 a.m. to sign up for programs people know get sold out,” former recreation supervisor Ken Reeves said earlier this year. Registration is also still available in-person at the recreation center on Peconic Lane.
