Southold Police report the drunk-driving arrest of a wrong-way driver on County Road 48 following a minor motor vehicle accident that injured two other people Friday night. Police said they received numerous calls of a driver operating westbound in the eastbound lanes of the divided highway.
Police said they arrested Manuel DeJesus Masin Perez, of Peconic, and charged him with driving while intoxicated, unlicensed operation and driving the wrong way on CR 48 at about 9 p.m. Friday night.
Masin Perez was involved in a “minor motor vehicle accident” in which the driver of the other vehicle and his passenger sustained minor injuries, according to a police press release issued last night. They were treated at the scene by Southold Fire Department, according to the release.
Masin Perez was held overnight for arraignment Saturday morning.
