Southold Police seek driver in hit-and-run that injured elderly woman in crosswalk

Southold Police are seeking the public’s help to find the driver of a vehicle that struck an elderly woman in a crosswalk on Front Street in Greenport Friday evening then fled the scene.

Police said the woman, whom they did not identify, was crossing Front Street in a marked crosswalk.

They did not provide a description of the vehicle or say where on Front Street the accident took place.

The woman was taken by Greenport Fire Department to Eastern Long Island Hospital for treatment of injuries police said were not considered life-threatening.
