Water has perennially inspired artists with its ever-changing reflection of light and its contrast with the landscape.

The Southold Town Historical Society’s newest exhibit, Water, Water Everywhere, will be on display from September 3 to September 24, 2016. The shows is open on Saturdays from 1 to 4 p.m. and by appointment at the Reichert Family Center and Gallery, 54127 Main Road in Southold.

Water, a basic building block of life, surrounds Southold Town. Water views that would astound people from other parts of the country are everyday views in our lives.

Art reflects its environment.  This exhibition highlights a selection of paintings from the Society’s collection that feature water. Most of the paintings depict scenes from Southold, although some are from other places that Southold artists have visited.
