Greenport, Oysterponds voters approve Floyd Memorial Library 2017 budget

Floyd Memorial Library’s 2017 budget easily won approval by voters in the Greenport and Oysterponds school districts yesterday.

The $1,072,081 spending plan was approved in Greenport 131 to 12 and in Oysterponds by a vote of 54 to 7.

Voting took place yesterday at the library and was open to all registered voters in both school districts.

The annual tax increase for the average homeowner will be $4.01, according to library officials.

The library, which has a collection of 46,000 physical items on site — adult and children’s books, magazines, newspapers, videos and audiobooks — offers 200,000 downloadable books, audiobooks, magazines and videos. www.floydmemoriallibrary.org
It offers programs that include book discussions, film screenings, performances computer tutoring, craft lessons, homework help and reading programs.
