The Mattituck girls soccer season ended yesterday with a first-round playoff defeat by Center Moriches. The Tuckers fell 1-0 in double overtime.
A tough Center Moriches defense made it tough for the Tuckers to penetrate into the opponents’ zone and kept scoring chances to a minimum.
The Tuckers thought they scored in the first overtime, but a referee’s whistle negated the goal. Two minutes later, Center Moriches scored on a wide open shot from the top of the crease to make it 1-0. That score held through the second 10-minute overtime, with Mattituck trying to muster up a last minute charge, but to no avail.
